Breeder:

Well, I’ll be very honest, I’m kind of tech savvy when it comes to building websites using Wix, and I have this beautiful looking site and I thought I was done. Well, then I hit week eight of the Elite Breeder Formula program.  I had to review everything in that learning module twice because there’s so much in there and the amount of information was incredible.

I learned that the breeder sites that I’ve had for a couple of years were basically worthless.

You really need to go with everything that’s outlined in week eight of the EBF program.  That course alone is worth whatever we paid.

I now have a nice looking site, but it’s fully functional too. Still, I took the bait with Wix: I can drag and drop and it looks beautiful.  But it didn’t do what I needed to do from an SEO perspective.

So there was a learning curve for me.  But Dr. Meg did put it in layman’s terms as best as possible so anyone who wasn’t computer savvy could follow it.

So that’s good. You just have to be focused and don’t be afraid to watch that module three or four times, because you’re going to find nuggets throughout.

But follow the process. I jumped the gun like I think some breeders do and Dr. Meg always says, “Follow the process. Don’t jump ahead. It will cost you time and money.”

It will!  So if you’re not at week eight yet don’t jump ahead. And this is firsthand experience from somebody who thought I had it done. I did not have it done!

Dr. Meg:

Thanks for sharing that. Yeah, look, some breeders are tempted to jump ahead.  All that does is waste time and money having to redo it and then not knowing what was done right or what wasn’t done right. So, follow the process. It’s not that daunting, is it? I know you’ve got to watch it two or three times, but all you got to do is fill out the worksheet. Don’t be scared.

Breeder:

You need to focus.  You can’t have it going while you’re trying to do something else. You really have to focus on what’s being said and it’s really good. That would be definitely my recommendation.

The pitfalls most breeders fall into:

It’s too easy to waste your time and money on website options.  Even getting a developer to create your website for you is going to be a waste of money if you don’t have help with the optimization.   Like the free and cheap drag-and-drop builders, you’ll end up with a website that just sits there and looks pretty, but never ranks on the search engines.
