Facebook Page Not Working?
Are you a breeder who’s quite smart? And you recognize that drowning amongst all competition in a puppy sales site is not the way to go? Yes, it’s like burying yourself under a rock. And so you’ve been proactive and created a Facebook page. But the problem is your Facebook page is not really working for you.
That puts you back to square one and still relying on those puppy for sale sites, right? What are we going to talk about today is, what you can do about that.
It is a pain when your Facebook page is not working. I know it doesn’t take very much to set it up but I’m sure you’ve put a lot of effort into posting regularly, and trying to get people to like your page and maybe even cross posting, and inviting all your family and friends to like it.
After all that effort you might even have several hundred people liking your page. And yet, when someone Googles looking for a puppy in your area, your page doesn’t come up in page one, two or three of the Google search results. So of course, buyers can’t find you. What can you do about that?
The Key to A Facebook Page That Works
And the answer is you could set it up correctly. So the first thing you need to do is make sure that it’s in the “dog breeder” category. The good news is that if it’s not in the “dog breeder” category, it’s quite easy to fix it. You can easily change the category . And if you want to learn how to do that, you can just go onto YouTube and find out how to change your category on a Facebook page. It will take you all of about five minutes to get that part fixed, which is great news, right?
So the other thing I would be doing to get your Facebook page working properly, is to make sure you filled out all the about sections and put your location in there.
The Biggest Tip!
But the most critical thing that makes a difference between a good Facebook page that works and one that doesn’t, is having backlinks to your page from several directories.
If you do that, you’ll find that your Google ranking that will go up quite a lot, because that makes you a lot more credible and relevant in Google’s eyes.
But just make sure that when you put yourself into those directories, that you use exactly the same name as you use for your Facebook page. Okay?
But a word of warning!
Even though we can fix Facebook now, I wouldn’t be relying on it in the long term.

I am a small hobby breeder 63 years old grandma and retired mail carrier. I have absolutely no technical skills at all and had to have someone make me a Facebook page last spring so I could at least send people to that to see puppies. I only raise a few litters a year and do it because I love dogs and puppies. I do not have any fabulous breeding dogs but they are so cute. I raise AKC golden retrievers and golden doodles and mini golden doodles. I just don’t know if using your plan would help me or just totally stress me out because I am not technically inclined at all. I would love to have my puppies reserved before they are born even if I don’t get a lot more for them. I have family friendly pricing. Any ideas? No website
Hi Nancy. The best quality inquiries come from buyers who find you through your website, because they are serious and “doing their research”. They are also the people most likely to commit ahead of time to your waiting list so your puppies are reserved before they are even born. In the Elite Breeder Formula program we leave the “techie” stuff of setting up a website to experts, giving them very specific instructions so we know it will work properly. This is very cheap and quick (about $50 in 7 days). But then we do have to learn how to put the right kind of information on our website so the right kind of buyers will find us. There is a learning curve but training and lots of support in the EBF program too. If you can type a letter on a computer you can do it, but must be prepared to never give up and ask for help if you need it. Meg
